This Women’s Health Month, the Rowan Foundation is proud to share a meaningful milestone in our journey to improve awareness and advocacy around women’s health and blood clot prevention. We are honored to welcome Vian Nguyen, MD, F.A.C.O.G., as our new Medical Advisor.

A Leader in Women’s Health and Innovation

Dr. Nguyen brings extensive clinical expertise and a forward-thinking approach to health education and innovation. A practicing Ob/Gyn with more than a decade of experience, she has held several leadership roles in women’s healthcare, including Chief of Clinical Services at Legacy Community Health, Houston, and more recently at the University of Houston, where she is helping to expand the services of the Women’s Care Clinic there. Dr. Nguyen also consults with numerous health tech companies and recently co-founded Taboos, a platform dedicated to equipping teens with life skills and medically accurate sexual and emotional health education.

“My goal has always been to empower people – especially young people – with the tools and knowledge to take control of their health,” said Dr. Nguyen. “Joining the Rowan Foundation is deeply meaningful to me, especially during Women’s Health Month. Together, we can help more women understand their bodies, recognize potential blood clot risks early, and feel confident advocating for themselves when making choices about contraception and other aspects of their healthcare.”

Shaping the Future of Advocacy and Education

In this role, Dr. Nguyen will support the Foundation’s public health initiatives and educational campaigns related to clotting risks and reproductive health. Her experience bridging clinical care and digital health will help amplify the Foundation’s communications efforts, expand its outreach efforts, and ground the organization’s educational initiatives in trusted medical expertise.

“Dr. Nguyen brings not only clinical excellence but a heart for education and prevention that aligns perfectly with our mission,” says David Rowan, Founder of the Rowan Foundation. “Her voice will help shape how we continue telling the stories that matter — stories of resilience, prevention, and informed choice and care. We’re honored to now further evolve our work with her guidance.”

Looking Ahead

The addition of Dr. Nguyen’s expert guidance marks an important step forward for the Rowan Foundation as it continues to advocate for safer, more informed care for women — especially when it comes to the often-overlooked risks of blood clots linked to hormonal contraception, pregnancy, and other women’s health issues.”

Dr. Nguyen received her MD from Baylor College of Medicine in 2007, and completed her residency with the Houston Methodist OBGYN Residency Program in 2011.

Stay tuned for more from Dr. Nguyen as she contributes her expertise across the Foundation’s programs and platforms in the months ahead.
