Blood Clot Awareness Month 2026
-
INFORMED • AWARE • INSPIRED • EMPOWERED
Why Awareness Matters
Each year, about one million people in the United States are affected by blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT, a blood clot in a person’s leg or arm) and pulmonary embolism (PE, a blood clot in a person’s lung).
For women, the risk for blood clots can increase during times of hormonal change, including pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause treatment, and the use of estrogen-based contraception.
Many women do not know their personal risk. Many symptoms go unrecognized.
Blood Clot Awareness Month is an opportunity to change that.
The Rowan Foundation is committed to improving education, encouraging informed healthcare conversations, and elevating the voices of women whose experiences can help save lives.

Potentially life-saving content you can share during Blood Clot Awareness Month:
Infomed Choices Save Lives
March is a reminder that awareness is not abstract. It is personal.
The more we understand risks, recognize symptoms, and elevate patient voices, the more lives we can protect.
This month, and every month, we stand with women, families, and providers working toward safer, more informed care.
