| In 2018, I was hospitalized after experiencing blood clots in both of my legs, extending from my ankles to my abdomen, as well as blood clots in both of my lungs. Taking a hormonal contraceptive pill played a significant role in my illness, along with a genetic predisposition to blood clots that had never been previously tested for.

More recently, however, in May of 2025, I was hospitalized again with a new blood clot. I had to undergo emergency surgery and an abrupt change in my medication. I’m back working in physiotherapy to regain my previous activity levels. This recent blood clot recurrence has been a good reminder that recovery isn’t always linear and takes time.
